One new house. Two bathrooms to be gutted and rebuilt from the ground up, a new bathroom to be conjured out of thin air, a sagging deck that needed to be replaced, and a kitchen desperate for a facelift. Two weeks to plan everything and begin demo.
A pair of toddlers and 7 weeks before move-in.
No problem!

So we knew that we were asking for a miracle, and we got our miracle. Everything -- and then some -- was done precisely on schedule. The work was all perfect. We enjoyed our interactions with Karen and her crew and are immensely grateful to all of them.  It only became clear to us at the end how much finesse and creativity and plain hard work went into delivering our miracle. Some days I would stop by to find a dozen or more guys swarming around the house, but everything felt very well choreographed, and the atmosphere was always professional and friendly. People were working 7 days a week, sometimes into the evening.

What was clear from the start was Karen's integrity. She fielded every setback and change order and episode of homeowner dithering, calmly and unflappably and thoughtfully, and with a subtle and well-timed sense of humor. Without exception, Karen’s subcontractors reflected her integrity. It was clear that everyone took pride in their work, and everyone I met was a pleasure to work with. Karen managed them with quiet authority and respect, and they in turn clearly had great respect for her.Karen made this project so enjoyable for us that we almost (almost) want to remodel our kitchen now. How many other homeowners can say that about their contractors?

To Whom It May Concern:

We had talked at length about how to add a second bathroom, but could not quite visualize it in our small space. Karen worked with us to make the most of what we had, and after the bathroom was finished, we got compliments from friends and family about the overall design and use of space. Karen and her crew were a pleasure to work with and helpful in easing the disruption that accompanies any construction. The area was kept clean, and the project was finished in the time promised. Karen was willing to answer our questions and kept us informed all the way through. We both felt comfortable having her in our house and managing the project.

Dear Karen,

A belated thank you for your wonderful work on our remodeling projects -- for your trouble-shooting skills, your eye for detail, your diplomatic whip-cracking, your invaluable design input, and most of all for your positive energy and unflagging enthusiasm when we were tired, overwhelmed with decisions, and sick of the dust. On top of being a great contractor, you’re a really nice person!

The bathroom remodel at our old house was everything we’d hoped it would be. You took a hideous eyesore and turned it into a sparkling jewel. We could not have been happier with the finished product, and we’re sure that it helped with the quick and successful sale of our home. We greatly appreciate the way you cleared time on your schedule to tackle the noisiest, messiest part of the job while we were on vacation and thus greatly minimized the time that our family was without our only full bathroom. The tile work was beautiful, and you showed great dedication and resourcefulness in helping us utilize the vintage toilet-and-sink suite and the vintage lighting we’d found, incorporating these elements seamlessly with the new materials used elsewhere in the bathroom and providing us with a functionally modern but classic-looking “new” bathroom! And all for a price that was extremely fair.

The stunning attic conversion at the new house is still the talk of our friends and neighbors. You helped transform a totally raw and physically awkward space into a beautiful, fairy-tale bedroom and playroom for our daughter, turning vast amounts of previously unusable space into functional expanses and inviting nooks and crannies. You translated our somewhat-vague vision of a charmingly rustic, sun-washed, cottage-style attic into reality, contributed smart fixes for various design problems and logistical roadblocks encountered along the way, and made sure that the finished product worked stylistically with our vintage home. We greatly appreciated you prioritizing this project on your schedule so that we could get moved in and settled. We now have a fabulous extra space in our home that we will all enjoy for years to come.

When we’re ready to tackle our next projects, we’ll use you again without hesitation.

All the best,

Leah Hennen and Nick Vigil

To Whom It May Concern:

After a long and thorough search for a general contractor, someone told me about Karen DiNardo. I met with her and she took the time to listen to my concerns and answer all my questions. I knew it was important to be able to trust the contractor I would be working with, and I immediately felt a level of understanding and trust with her.  Once the job was underway, I knew I had chosen the right person to manage my remodel.

Karen oversaw and managed three projects for me over a period of about six months and I am extremely happy with the results. Timeline and budget costs came in very close to original estimates. Karen was very upfront with the few unknown costs that came up, and had even indicated the possibility for them in her original estimate. As a result, there were no unpleasant surprises. I had to move out of my bedroom for much of the second two projects and Karen was great in terms of notifying me when workmen would be coming and sensitive to the nature of the job.

I would recommend Karen DiNardo unequivocally to anyone looking for an excellent contractor and trustworthy professional.

To Whom It May Concern:

Karen DiNardo completed an addition of a bathroom on our guest house earlier this year.  We couldn't be happier with the result.  The project was performed in a timely manner and came in under budget.

Karen was also very flexible (and patient) with us as the project progressed and our needs and wants became refined.  We always felt informed and updated about the status of the project and never intruded upon by the construction site.

We would definitely use Karen again for future projects and recommend her to our friends and neighbors.

To Whom It May Concern:

It was a pleasure to work with Karen DiNardo on the Conversion of a utility room to a massage studio with a bathroom.

The project included designing and building a bathroom, insulation, electrical upgrades, hardwood floors and window installation.

I felt well informed on a daily basis and was as involved in the decision making process as I wanted to be. During the 4 – 6 weeks of construction, there was very little disruption to my daily life, and the work site always had dust and debris contained.

Both the timeline and budget were as projected, and Karen and crew proved to be skilled and easy to work with.

I would not hesitate to hire Karen again for future projects.

To Whom It May Concern:

Thank you so much to Karen and her crew for the amazing work they did for us on our home.

While we recognized there would be significant work in renovating and upgrading our entire 3 bedroom, 2 bath apartment, we were surprised how smoothly and quickly the process was.

The creative ideas and solutions tat she provided helped us make the best use of the space while keeping costs within our budget. Her close oversight on the project and attention to detail exceeded our expectations and gave us a final product that has received many compliments.

Her ability to find quality subcontract help and to manager so many different aspects to the project from concrete work, to electrical, tile, flooring and trim was impressive!

We appreciate everything she has done and hope to work together on future projects. We are happy to be a reference should you desire.
